A note from Debbie Smith, Graves County Homemaker President

July is here, and the 7-2024 thru 6-2025 events should be completed! Programs of Work for the time
period should be completed, and club reports and information should be sent to the county. All
county information will be submitted online or to the area chairman as specified. From this
information, we can see what all Kentucky Extension Homemakers have accomplished during the
2024-2025 time period.

So what does July mean to homemakers? To me it is a time of reflection. We can look at our numbers
from Program of Work reports to see where we have excelled and where we might have fallen behind a
bit. Your county officers will be able to address any concerns and make plans to address these
concerns. Even though the fiscal year is over, there is still quite of bit to be done in July and
August to get ready for meetings that will begin in September.

I hope you are planning on participating in the GRAVES COUNTY Cultural Arts contest on August 25.
You can find rules and categories online or ask at the Extension office. A few of the categories
have made changes, so look over that carefully. All entries need to be at the Extension office and
checked in by 11 am. They will be judged and all will be on display at our Annual Day on August 26.
The Best of Show voting will take place on the 26th. Those who receive a blue or purple ribbon will
go on to the Purchase Area contest on Monday, September 22nd. More information on this will follow.
Please consider entering your cultural arts beauty to our county contest!

Finally, please mark your calendar for August 26 which is our (Graves County’s) Annual Day. Plans
have already begun to make the time enjoyable for all. Attendees will enjoy a Garden Party,
complete with a tea party and delicious delicacies! You might want to find your white gloves, your
fans, and perhaps even your garden party hat! We plan on having a fun time while celebrating our
accomplishments this past year along with honoring some very special members. The offices of
President and Treasurer will be elected and installed for their new terms. All the fun begins at 10
am at the Extension Office. More information will be in the August newsletter.

Have a wonderful July enjoying the 4th and all the activities associated. Have you thought about
July 4, 2026 will be the 250th birthday of our country? I bet there will
be big celebrations then!!
